Performance

There are three engine options in the Sonata lineup. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is standard on the SE and SEL trims and generates up to 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. The second is a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine, which will provide you with up to 180 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Both of these options allow Long Island drivers to drive up to 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

The last powertrain is standard on the N Line trim level, and it's a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. With this option, you can look forward to up to 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. Of course, this jump in performance does mean that fuel economy takes a hit, dropping to an estimated 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, but these are still excellent numbers.

Entertainment Features

The Sonata comes with an excellent infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, as well as HD Radio™ and Bluetooth® audio streaming. You can access this system through the standard 8-inch touchscreen display on the base trim, while every other trim comes with an enhanced 10.25-inch option.

This upgrade also comes with SiriusXM®, onboard navigation with traffic flow information and dynamic voice recognition. On most top trim levels, Valley Stream shoppers can also enjoy a Bose® premium audio system. This comes with 12 high-quality speakers to let you listen to your favorite songs in pristine quality.

Safety Technology

Like other Hyundai models, the new Hyundai Sonata is fitted with some absolutely incredible driver-assist technology thanks to Hyundai's SmartSense technology. This includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian, Cyclist and Junction Turning Detection, Safe Exit Warning, Lane Following Assist and High Beam Assist.

There are more options available on higher trims, too. For example, you can pick up the Blind-Spot View Monitor and Highway Driving Assist to make road trips out of Hicksville a breeze. You might also consider getting a model with the Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist to make difficult parking at the mall easier.

Trim Levels

There are five trim levels for the new Hyundai Sonata: the SE, SEL, SEL Plus, N Line and Limited. The Sonata SE offers a good baseline sedan that many of our customers are perfectly happy with, but the SEL and SEL Plus add some great enhancements to the technology and comfort, making them well worth considering.

The Sonata N Line is a sporty trim, being the only option to come with the powerful 290-horsepower engine, and it also comes with unique sport front seats, leather-wrapped sport steering wheel and other sport-inspired elements. The Limited trim is a top pick for Huntington area drivers looking for the best of the best in terms of premium amenities. It brings along features like leather seating surfaces, ventilated front seats and a memory system for the power-adjustable driver's seat and side mirrors.
